about freckled laundry

Hi. Welcome to freckled laundry.

I'm Jami, the laundry lover behind this site.

I'm a thirty-something stay-at-home mother of three;
Edyn and Grey (2) and Jaden (8).
I'm also married to a pretty cool guy, Shane.

In those quiet moments to myself,
I'm pursuing my dreams for freckled laundry and writing this blog.

I have always loved sketching, painting, photography, crafting, tinkering, sewing,
and making things and spaces prettier than they were before I found them.

(If you invite me over for coffee, I am not afraid to straighten a crooked picture on your wall.
You won't even see me do it either; While you're pouring, I'm nudging.)

 What makes this DIY decor blog unique?
I don't own a fancy home.
I bought a small, 1550 sq. foot budget conscious ranch in Upstate, NY
and let's face it, folks;
A post WWII ranch is nothing but a rectangle with some doors inside.
No fancy built-ins.
No amazing, chunky baseboard and molding.
And, in my case, those wanna-be hollow core, flat doors.
(I think the Lord everyday that I at least have some archways!)

Even thought it's roughly the size of a postage stamp,
I had big dreams for this place the moment I walked through it
and I'll show you how to make a plain Jane house a beautiful home
on a seriously tight budget.

Although it's nice to have good bones to start with,
I hope to show you that you don't need them.
It doesn't matter if you live in a double-wide trailer or a 100 year-old Colonial;
You can love where you live.

How would I describe my style?
 Comfortable, casual, simple, and vintage chic come to mind.
 (You may have also noticed that I fancy lavender.)

To me, a home is a place of comfort above all else,

and I seek to create such an atmosphere with pretty simplicity.

A few more bits about me...
I like searching for antiques, the vintage, and forgotten wares at auctions,
yard sales, quaint little shops, and flea markets.
There is nothing like finding an abandoned piece of proverbial crap
and immediately seeing loveliness and potential.

I {love} laundry, especially simple, natural textiles like hemp linen and cotton.
(Voile, Belgian linen and cotton jersey knit are a few of my favorites.)

In addition to writing this blog and helping others decorate their spaces, especially small spaces,
my dream is to create a brand for freckled laundry
designing fabrics and other textile home wares
like chair hugs, slipcovers, mixed media art, pillows
...and whatever else I'm inspired to create.

And, you're already probably thinking, "Does she love her some parentheses, or what?"

(Yes, I do. They're like little hugs scattered throughout the page.)

I hope you find inspiration in my blog and I invite you into my home,
as I give it freckled laundry style, one room at a time.
