the prairie

While I was offering some shabby decorating feedback on a hometalk post yesterday, I tossed a link to The Prairie B&B by Rachel Ashwell.

I was searching for a specific kitchen photo that I remembered seeing, and happened upon the inspiration that originally ignited a small spark of teal adoration after Rachel shared photos of the Prairie and the plans on her blog last year.

What kind of a blogger would I be if I didn’t share such loveliness with you, too?

On the Prairie, there are several cottages, manors, and lodges.

My absolute favorite is Blue Bonnet Barn.

Rachel worked around the existing bones of the houses (you can read The Prairie story here), which included the beautiful timeworn teal/turquoise planks that you can see peeking from the stairs on the left in this photo of The Liliput Lodge.

I love that a rather rich hue can look so faded and soft among Rachel’s couture laundry touches.
If I remember correctly,
this Victorian wallpaper is original to The Meadow Manor (1800s).
This little living room in the Blue Bonnet Barn has nothing to do with teal
but it takes my breath away!
That is the refined, casual, simplicity that I love all wrapped up in a little shabby package.

Please get me a yard of that chair floral and window floral, Santa.

Seriously, I want this to be my house.

I would move right in and not change a thing.
(I’d hang a photo of my littles, but that’s it.)

I could share so many beautiful photos with you here, but no one can tell the story of The Prairie better than Rachel, so I hope you’ll take a tour (if you haven’t already ditched this post!) and make your Wednesday night a little prettier.
I would {love love love} to arrange a little get together with some of you at The Prairie B&B someday. Not a conference or anything. I’d love for my non-blogging friends to come too. Just a casual get together to strip ourselves of the day to day and be inspired by the surrounding beauty and friendship.

Wouldn’t that be lovely?!
Let me know and I’ll look into it.

I’m inspired daily (or minute-ly rather) and thought about sharing weekly inspiration posts.
Do you enjoy them?
With Pinterest out there, I worry that inspiration posts have lost their lustre.
With Pinterest out there, I worry that I have lost my lustre. ;)

Speaking of Pinterest, if you want to pin any of the above images, please please please pin them directly from The Prairie B&B site. Rachel’s photos aren’t watermarked and I want to make sure that they are linked to the original source. Just click any photo above and it will take you to The Prairie site. Easy.

I’m putting the finishing touches (straps) on a white linen cabinet door organizer and will share it Friday night!
(It was actually intended for my refrigerator door but the magnets weren’t strong enough.)

Beautiful places. It’s amazing that color can endure so long. And that it can still be in style after all that time.
