quite possibly the coolest light ever

During an {almost} nightly cruise through the streets of Etsy,
I came to a screeching halt at a peculiar little shop, EarthSeaWarrior.
Ursula’s shop shines the reflection of a very creative imagination.
And there, among unicorn glitter dispensers, air plants and bone specimens
is the coolest collection of illuminations.
Within minutes, I was custom ordering this to hang above my kitchen sink…
(That’s a ‘freshly hung’ photo and the cord will relax a bit.)
Silver vintage pull socket. Check.
Hardwire option with a modern silver canopy. Check.
Lavender cord cover. Check.
Isn’t it cute?!
I {love} the chrome dipped bulb.
I’m loving all things dipped lately.
Furniture legs.

(What about you? Dip or no dip?)

I already had a beautiful. mercury glass pendant to hang above my sink,
but the new light just had my style all over it and it felt more right for the space.
(The mercury glass light will be perfect in my family room,
which is through the french doors in my kitchen.)
If you haven’t noticed, my style is quite simple.
I don’t use a whole lot of “stuff” (as in knickknacks, tchotchkes, etc.),
so I tend to think, think, and sometimes rethink matters of the house.
i.e. Notice that the wall around the light is no longer graphite.
I decided to keep one long wall graphite
(because I love it!)
and paint the rest of the kitchen white
{I’ll share the thought behind that and photos another day}.
And now you know why my kitchen makeover has taken months.
Ursula creates many styles of illuminations but the particular light that I purchased
can be ordered in several other cloth cord colors…
…with different socket styles and finishes, and the option for a plug-in lamp or hardwire.
I purchased the 4 ft. cord light ($55) but there is an 8 ft. cord option too.
I think two of the 8 ft. plug-in lights would be such a cool pop of color
on either side of a white, fluffy bed.
And, as an Etsy seller, I think Ursula’s story is pretty inspirational too.
When she started EarthSeaWarrior at the end of 2010,
she said to her mom,
“Can you imagine…I could maybe reach Anthropologie’s level someday?!”
She set her very first goal to make original, one-of-a-kind pieces
that would get the attention of the Urban Outfitters/Free People/Anthropologie franchise.
Guess what?
It under two years, Ursula’s “weird lil’ shop”
is now designing in-store decor lighting for Free People!
(…and she tears up every time she thinks about it.)
I was not sponsored, compensated or even asked to share my light,
opinions or Ursula’s story with you.
Loved the light. Loved her story. Love sharing things I love with you.
That’s it.
Speaking of things that I love,
I want to thank my friend, Kimberly at Serendipity Refined
for the box of lavender goodies that landed on my doorstep.
{thank you}
{thank you}
{thank you}
for your thoughtfulness and
for remembering
a) that I can’t crochet to save my life,
b) that I mentioned wanting white crochet washcloths and
c) that I fancy lavender (not that I let anyone forget or anything).
Happy Thursday.
Don’t forget to drop off your laundry tonight!
