DIY doily chandelier

Hi, loves.
It’s hotter than Hades outside today (over 100 degrees!)
so I’m staying put inside, ironing laundry, and writing this post.
Last week, among other things,
I made this petite vintage doily and wire chandelier to hang above Edyn’s bed.
I should mention that
I’ve decided to head in a different direction in the twins’ room,
but I won’t be painting the room white until AFTER my kitchen is finished!
Their room {accessories} will have a bit more color than you’re used to seeing around here.
Sunny yellow.
Just little, bright vintage touches against an all white backdrop…
…like this sweet wire chandy.
One of my first blog projects was the DIY wire and crystal chandelier (“wirelier”) HERE.
Sometimes a cute concept is better than the end result!!!
I loved it, but I didn’t {love love} it.
Anyhow, the thing has been hanging on a nail in my office ever since
and I’ve been meaning to work on it.
Finally, I did.
It dawned on me that all I needed to do was take the ends
(what bothered me),
bring them up, and attach them to the center.
Then, I added a vintage doily.
Aaaah. Much better!
Vintage laundry always does the trick, doesn’t it?
{So, if you want to make one yourself, follow THIS tutorial
but add the extra step…or two!)
Oh, and if you want it to hang lower, just use some torn muslin.
You’ll need some craft OR floral wire (both pictured below but I used the craft wire),
crystal baubles (found at Target),
a doily, and some spray paint if you’d like.
If you want to make shiny wire look old,
just put it in a bowl of water and a scoop of OxiClean.
I knew the process was called oxidation, had some Oxiclean on hand…
…and it actually worked!
I’m not sure if will work on all wire,
but the floral wire (bottom right) from JoAnn’s responded quite nicely.
Before I attached the doily, I spray painted one side a bright watermelon color…
…that coordinates well with vibrant pink roses in this vintage pillowcase
that I picked up at the thrift shop for 49 cents.
{Add some turquoise and sunny yellow in there and you have the colors of their room accessories.}
Because I like to play with my florabella photoshop actions a bit too much
and therefore the pink looks different in every photo above,
this photo is true to the watermelon pink color of the spray painted doily…
Have a wonderful week.
I’d love to know what you’ve been working on too!
Don’t forget to drop off your laundry tomorrow night.

Beautiful. I loved the first one too. I think the doily finishes it off. Somethings things just need to hang around before we know how to finish it.
