Hello.
{taps microphone}
Is there anybody out there?
Now that I've dusted the cobwebs off my blog,
here are 153 photos of me and the littles at the beach.
Not really.
I do have a week's worth of thoughts and some finds to share though.
{brace yourself}
Yesterday was my day at The Salvation Army.
I found two vintage ladderback chairs with rush (or paper cord, I think) seats.
$24 for the pair!
Can I get an Amen?
I also picked up a heather gray jersey knit sheet for $1,
a wooden tool caddy for $4.99, and a scoop for $1
(I was smitten with the "1" on the handle).
Pardon the yellowed evening shot.
(Those aren't paint splatters on my floors! Their broken pixels or a little dust in my camera.)
Everything will be getting a little makeover this week.
Just trying to decide on what colors to paint those lovely chairs...
Distressed white with some charcoal peeking through.
Paris Grey (light gray) with a white wash.
White with a Paris Grey Wash.
Distressed Lavender.
Faded Pink.
Heck.
Might as well throw orange in there!
I don't like my chairs all matchy matchy so I'll probably paint them differently.
They'll all be going in the n.e.v.e.r.e.n.d.i.n.g. kitchen makeover.
{sigh}
I've decided to make a few changes.
#1
Although I {love} my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Graphite counter tops,
I'm a little nervous about the DIY installation so I'll need you to cheer me on
when my materials arrive!
Looks easy enough.
(That's what makes me nervous.)
I still share the tutorial for the Annie Sloan painted process soon.
#2
I finished painting and waxing all of the cabinets
only for my hardware to continue to bug me.
All of the drawers and doors have polished nickel RH Chatham pulls
but the pulls just look strange on my doors.
I want simple knobs.
So, I have many a hole to wood fill and sand...and repaint...and rewax.
All in the name of love.
I tried to live with the pulls but it's time to let them go.
Goodbye, guilt.
I'll list them on ebay.
I'm keeping pulls on the drawers though.
I bought these pretty vintage label pulls for the drawers from Retro Collecto on Etsy.

I can't wait to stick sweet little labels in them!
{I'll be robbing my bedroom furniture of its' knobs for the cabinets.}

I fell in love with this Mercury Glass Pendant that I came across a few weeks ago.
I'll be hanging it above my kitchen sink.
{And, I'd like about five more for other rooms, please.}
Oh, it's heavenly!
More on that soon.

Did I mention that I'm considering painting my lower cabinets Paris Grey?
Yeah, you get the point.
I don't want to share my kitchen until it's completely finished and I love it
(besides the tile floors, which will have to remain for another year or two).
My goal is to wrap it up by the end of this month
so for those of you who have been looking forward to this makeover,
please forgive me!
I just need to love it enough to hug it first.
Speaking of love and hugs,
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
Thank you for your sweet friendships and for loving my blog.
Personally, I'd love a bunch of cabbage roses.

What about you?

Tell me all about painting your cabinets in ASCP! I want to repaint mine but the thought of sanding and priming was scaring me away...
So nice to have you back! Thanks for not posting the 153 pics...LOL
I love those countertops but can't wait to see how the zinc goes.....I want to replace my countertops and will watch carefully!
Lorraine
Zinc will be so perfect on your counters! How is th ASCP wearing on the counters?
I've been reading your blog for a while, but this is my first time commenting. I found it while looking for lavender inspiration for my daughter's room.
Please tell us about painting the counters in ASCP. I'm thinking about painting my front doors with it and I'm a little nervous about it. I've done tons of other projects with it and it is amazing, but doors are scary! Love your chairs!!
Love those label pulls:)
Just a thought for your foor - a friend told me they now have linoleum paint? Would it work on tile too? At least you could get it a color you liked if you cannot redo it right now.
I wouldn't mind a bunch of those cabbage roses about now! That would help get me out of this winter depression:)
My greatest wish for valentines would be hot sunshine, green grass, and leaves on the trees!
Can not WAIT to see those zinc countertops!
Great score on the chairs! The pulls are a great choice, you gotta live with what you love, and those pulls just weren't you, I totally get it. We all spend a lot of time in the kitchen you might as well have it be your little sanctuary while you are in there right? Never heard of the zinc finish, can't wait to see it!
JAMI!
Missed you!
So glad you all got away!
Loved the kitchen preview!
Happy Valentine's Day to you and all of your Sweets!

Love the chairs! :)
Ohh, I love the idea of zinc! I have an old piece that I am thinking of re-doing with a zinc top. I'll be curious to see how the process goes.
Glad to "see" you again! I love your thrifty finds! And can't wait to see what colors you choose.
♥Charlotte
Glad to have you back, Jami! I missed you. You are a busy lady lately and what fun treasures you found. I think distressed lavender or faded pink would be pretty. Can't wait to see your zinc countertops! Happy Valentine's Day to you!
Hi Jami! I just love all your thrifty finds from the Salvation Army. I'm very intrigued with your upcoming project of the zinc countertops, and can't wait for you to figure them out and share your tips with the rest of us! I also adore the vintage pulls you bought off of Etsy. I might have to look into getting some of those myself! Thanks for the cute post.
LOVE those counter tops and drawers pulls!!! Wishing you & yours a Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Hugs,
Jessie
Hooray for fun vintage finds and finding just the look you want for your kitchen. Hoping this week is going super for you.

Catherine

cant wait to see your kitchen! I finally have floors in mine, but i hate everything else...
There you are, Jami! We've been looking high and low for you, girl! lol! Loving your cheap GW finds, and can't believe that you're following your heart and remaking those changes in your kitchen! Good for you! Sometimes I tend to just live with decisions I make which never sets well with me. Can hardly wait to see the final reveal. It'll certainly be a biggy! Oh, and I'd love to see your 153 pics. I'm one of those weirdos who love looking at other's vacay pics. lol!

Great buys at the Salvation Army -- can't wait to see what you do with the chairs! So back up here, your countertops are painted with A.S. Chalk Paint??? Really? Details please -- my kitchen is hideous and outdated and we are broke so I'm trying to figure out what to do with the awful countertops and laminate cupboards!
Hi Jami, just stopping by to say how delightful your blog is. Thanks so much for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

HI Jami,
I can not wait to see your kitchen, especially the countertops!!!
And I just can't believe the deal you scored on those awesome chairs!! I can never find cute things like that at my Goodwill.
Hope you and your family are doing well and have a great night.
Sincerely,'
Melinda
Well, I am anxiously awaiting your zinc countertops! I can't wait to see how you do this - you are a very brave girl! I have a laminate top in my bathrooms and would LOVE to attempt something like this. Are you figuring this out yourself? Following a tutorial somewhere?
Can't wait! You are amazing!
Nan
Your such a tease! I'm loving all the details you're sneak peeking, Jami. What cool bin pulls, and yes, I'd happily take a big bouquet of cabbage roses, too. :)
j- you're workin' too hard girl! but with your ideas, who can blame you??? that kitchen is an ongoing piece of art. andrea@townandprairie
