over-sized letters and holiday mantel

I wanted to keep my holiday mantel simple and sweet this year.

Shocking. I know.

I love my existing decor and wasn’t tired of it yet
(What’s up with that?!)
so rather than redo it entirely, I decided to add to it.
I created some giant, over-sized letters using Styrofoam,
muslin ruffles, and charcoal wool yarn
that I’ve been drooling over at JoAnn for at least a year.
(I don’t knit or crochet so until now, buying it would have just added to my hoarding case!)
 What I wouldn’t give for an afghan made out of that heavenly skein.
I know letter and typography tutorials aren’t in short supply in Blogville,
but head over to
where I’m sharing the tutorial on how to make them using Styrofoam sheets.
Today is the LAST DAY to enter my Comfort Works giveaway!
A handful have entered {thank you!}
so be sure to enter if you could use a pretty, new slipcover like mine…
Click the image above for giveaway details.
I’ll announce a winner tomorrow!
You may have already noticed…
My holiday posting schedule will be a little unpredictable.
I’m just lovin’ on my three children, creating Christmas memories,
baking, seeing the sights, taking in Christmas festivals, plays, etc.
When I’m not doing that,
it’s crunch time to finish up several home projects before the in-laws arrive
including finishing my tree,
which I’ll share whenever I can find moments (or in my case, hours) to sit down and write.
I know you all understand but just wanted to mention it.
It isn’t easy to slow down on the blog, when I love it so!
Thank you all.
Merry Christmas!
{Welcome, new sweets!}
