comfort works review & giveaway

A short while ago,
I was the lucky winner of a giveaway for Comfort Works,
an online workroom that creates custom slipcovers, curtains and sheers,
quilt and duvet covers.
Their fabrics are a laundry lover’s dream.
{I’ll get into that in just a sec.}
Comfort Works specializes in custom made IKEA sofa slipcovers too,
namely, Karlanda, Ektorp, Kramfors, Klippan, Nikkala, Ekeskog, Lillberg, Tomelilla, Tylosand, Allerum, Kivik, Karlstad,
Mysinge, Nils, Jennylund, Henriksdal and Poang.

Unfortunately, my nearest IKEA is a four hour drive
{thus no IKEA sofas here!}
so I used my giveaway winnings for custom slipcovers
for two standard Ballard Designs Parsons chairs.
Rachel at Comfort Works asked what I had in mind
and she and her production team took it from there.
I wanted something pure white, simple, loose-fitting, and casual,
with ties down the back.
And that’s exactly what I got.
I {LOVE} them!
Here’s an up close and personal shot of the back…
I ordered them in the beautiful Gaia White cotton
and both the quality of the fabric and the sewing exceeded my expectations.
(The flawless seams put my first slipcover skills to shame; That’s for sure.)

The Gaia White is a thick, durable, upholstery weight cotton.

If you’re interested this style for your own chairs, just email Rachel directly
and ask for Jami’s Triple Ribbon Special, as she calls it.
Comfort Works also made a custom slipcover in Lino Brushed for my
Pottery Barn Caitlin Bench cushion
(I recently painted the base with Annie Sloan’s “Pure White” Chalk Paint)…
…and surprised me with two coordinating cushion covers
made with the Lino Brushed linen on the front and Gaia White cotton on the reverse.

Fits like a glove.
The Lino Brushed is so pretty.
I told Rachel that I wanted a grayish, oatmeal linen and it is exactly that.
(It reminds me of antique, nubby, hemp linen.)

Comfort Works is giving away $120 USD store credit to one of you too.
You will be able to choose from any of their current products and fabrics,
or work with Comfort Works to create your own DIY project,
like my tie-back chair slipcovers.
So, if you want to ring in the New Year with some pretty new laundry,
here are the rules:
To enter,
upload a photo of something in your home that you would like slipcovered
on the Comfort Works’ Facebook fan page with the words “Cover me Comfort Works”
and a link back to this post.
It can be anything from a dinning chair to a footstool,
cushions, laundry bag, bed head, table cloths, aprons, etc.

Once you have posted the picture on their facebook fan page,
leave a comment in the comments section of this post
letting me know that you’ve done so
along with a funny story telling me why you should be “covered.”
You can upload as many photos as you’d like.
Just leave a separate comment/funny story HERE for each.

I will choose a winner on December 13.

Good luck!

Although I received store credit for slipcovers beyond the original giveaway amount,
every thought and word in this review is honest, authentic, and my own
(other than the company description which I borrowed from their profile).
I love my new slips.

Thank you, Jami and Comfort Works!
You can see by the photo my sofa has been diagnosed with “design deficiency”… the treatment plan: “cover and tuck”!

  8. I am in Desperate need of a slip cover. We were going to sell our couches when we moved into our house in July. and then we decided oooo well I guess we can live with these one more year right…. these would save my bacon for maybe two more years =)

  9. Donna says:

  11. Hi Jami,

Ok, so I would love to enter this giveaway! I “liked” Comfort Works on FB & uploaded a photo of the ONLY sofa in my house since we moved! :)

One teenager & one toddler later, unfortunately our Ektorp sofa cover is on its last leg! My poor sofa has been spit on, thrown up on, and well, everything else you can imagine with 3 boys in the house {notice that I counted my hubby as one of the boys!}…so this sofa cover has been in the wash one too many times! Since the move from townhome to fixer upper home, we’ve still used this same comfy sofa…just needs a little revamping! :) Crossing my fingers that I win! :)

  12. Brittany says:

Absolutely gorgeous! I love the crisp, clean look of this! Love your blog :)

  13. poindextr says:

you lucky thing! Your slipcovered chairs are absolutely gorgeous!

  14. Jami, your chairs look gorgeous. I love the covers your chose. I would love to find some parsons chairs just for those covers!

I linked up my huge headboard at Cover works. My friend helped me upholster that headboard. It is pretty big and I love the size. Covering those buttons kicked my butt! But it’s time for a new look. I have a white duvet now and hope for a more simple brighter look. Maybe some piping! :)

  16. Hey Jami!
What a nice job they’ve done on your slipcovers! I love comfort works – thanks for letting us know about them.
We posted a pic on their facebook page ( of our cat Darcy on our couch. We share our couch with lots of world travellers and 3 cats and this definitely has left it in need of a covering! Thanks for the great posts!

  17. SuzyMcQ says:

I just posted a photo of a great chair that I have that just needs a pretty slipcover.

Hmm. Why my chair should be covered…well. because in this chilly weather everyone should be covered….even a chair?

The real reason it needs to be covered is because my rescued foster dogs tend to migrate to this chair for some reason….it’s very comfy and most of them have never sat in a chair….so, while it’s structurally in great shape, they are small dogs, freshening it up and, with a washable slipcover to boot, that would be fantastic!

  18. CAROL PARRY says:

What other colours in the tieback cjhair covers do you have?I’m looking for a muslim cloth kinda colour.

thank you for taking a minute to write...
