Sleepover Time!

Hi, sweets.
I’m on my way to a virtual sleepover at Donna’s.
She came up with the adorable idea
{Can ideas be adorable?…Sure they can.}
to share our favorite movies and the sets that inspire us.
Do you ever watch a movie and get completely lost in the details of the set?
Like-I-have-to-rewind-the-movie-and-find-out-what-just-happened lost.

The first thing I notice in movie set homes are built-ins, trim, and molding.
Every time.
(Any of you with me here?)
I also tend to fall in love with the exteriors more than the interiors.
When Donna invited me to the sleepover
and requested that I bring a couple of movies,
this one instantly came to mind…
Quite possibly my favorite movie. ever.
Ryan Gosling.

And, Noah’s house with the blue shutters
This may seem odd,
but I actually love it just as much before he fixed it up.
Can you imagine walking into this knowing that love renovated it just for you?
Complete with your own art studio?

It’s just too much for a girl to take, I tell you.

Another movie set also stood out.
Love this movie.
{LOVE} the house.
Oh. my.
If you live in a house like this, I have to know.
The entire set for this movie is probably the most gorgeous that I’ve ever seen.
It was this film that sparked a someday dream to open a quaint, little shop to sell my wares.
Here are some shots of the house interior.
(This picture doesn’t do the kitchen any justice so watch the movie!)
Okay, so I’m off to Donna’s wearing my snuggly bunny slippers.

(I found them on Etsy)

I also be bringing a bottle of Pino Grigio and my friend Julie’s {awesome}, creamy buschetta dip…
Recipe HERE.

Come on over to Donna’s and share your favorite movie set inspiration, snacks, and PJs!

  1. That sounds like a great party! I totally understand getting lost on the set detail. I’m another one that searches the scene for great built ins, white trims and architectural details. I just posted today about one of my favourite inspiration homes and the trim detail. Forget shoes, just give this girl piles and piles of white trim.

  2. Perhaps this is why my design decisions take so long……I love them all! How do you pick one over the other? As for that Bruschetta dip – I’m making it tonight and opening a wine. I don’t know which movie I’ll choose and which set inspires me the most but count me in on the sleepover!

  3. hey Jami, I will have to watch those movies…that is the second time someone said Practical Magic! Pass the popcorn…

  4. Ooh, “Practical Magic” has always been one of my favorite movies!!! And, I’ve always loved that entire set – especially that house & kitchen!!! I always tell myself that one day I’ll leave Los Angeles, and retire somewhere in a quaint little town like this and buy myself a really old charming, two-story home! ;) Anyway, hope you are having a fantastic week, my friend. Take care!

  5. The Notebook. Now, that was a movie! And those sets. Yes, I could take an old home, however, my husband couldn’t. He wants to part in it. When he looks at an old home, all he sees is work. all I see is what it could be with love! Go figure!

    Hi Jami!
Your so sweet for coming to my little sleepover!
I just watched the notebook a few nights ago and forgot how much I loved the house! I think it’s quite wonderful for the same reason ~ he renovated it for her!
I am trying this dip! It looks amazing! We like this type of thing sometimes just for dinner with a salad!
Hope you have a fabulous Friday and weekend!
    Hugs and much love,

  7. There is NOTHING I don’t love about “Practical Magic”…. especially the house!!! That shop is my dream too…

And I love the Notebook house!! I like this party…I’m in!!

  8. Two of my most favorite movies of all time! I’ve watched them over and over again and NEVER tire of looking at those GORGEOUS sets! sigh…

  9. Karena says:

I love the little cottage in the new bewitched movie … I’m so distracted during the scenes in the cottage. I want to live there:)

  11. Rebecca says:

Here you are… I left a comment on the wrong post…
Love these movies! The story line on the first one is so wonderful and I love the way the house looks before the fix up also…
It was fun hanging with you

  12. SueAnn says:

The Practical Magic set is my all time favorite too!! Loved that house!

  13. If ONLY I lived in a house like that…. sigh…

  14. Good morning, Jami!
I am so glad we were able to get together at Donna’s. You picked two of my fave movies. Practical Magic was filmed on San Juan Island. It’s one of our favorite vacation spots!
The Notebook is my mom and dad. They are both still very much alive, in love, and now 82 years old! I have always adored James Garner!
I would drink Pino G anytime anywhere with you!
    Have a perfect weekend!

  15. Jenni says:

What a sweet idea for a party! I LOVED the movie, The Notebook, and agree the whole idea of him fixing up the old house for her is very romantic. :) And I completely relate to noticing every architectural detail and paint color in movies. :)

I hope you have a great day!

P.S. Those are adorable slippers, by the way! :)

  16. What a cute idea!
    Love your slippers!

  17. Kathy says:

I love and adore the sets of Practical Magic as well. The outdoor seaside village “set” isn’t a set but a small town, Coupeville, on Whidbey Island in Washington state. All the set designers did was paint the whole town white–and then repaint it after filming to the owners’ choice. How do I know? I live in Mukilteo, WA where you can catch the ferry to Whidbey Island (sailing every 30 minutes). This is an official invitation to visit me and we’ll go to Whidbey Island!

What a fun party! I have never seen Practical Magic and must now. That house is fabulous! I loved The Notebook. I’m a girl who lives in cozy slippers. Your slippers are adorable. Flannel pjs, comfy slippers, popcorn, a cozy throw and a good chic movie. A perfect evening!

  19. Megan says:

LOVE those houses… so east coast :) you dont see anything like that here. Gorgeous homes- but totally different style.
