provence chalk paint on an old window

Hi, loves.
My house guests are safely back in Myrtle Beach,
and I was able to hide away in my craft room today,
painting and photographing til’ my heart was content.
I was quite productive.
I {love it} when I can work, for the most part, uninterrupted.
My husband is on vacation so he was able to help with diaper changes, lunches, and play time with the littles.
[cue singing angels]

I packaged and shipped a few orders,
made some clay tags,
painted a wooden, chalkboard clay tag display for Restore Interiors,
photographed a turquoise window,
started playing and mixing Annie Sloan chalk paint and repainted it lavender,
repainted a base coat of “Paris Grey” on my antique trunk,
and experimented with Hannant’s waxes and some antiquing mediums.

Edyn {who always follows me around like a little duckling}
even helped me decorate my white desk with a Sharpie marker.
Sigh.

That child is lightning fast with a writing utensil.
I swear, she goes into a scribbling frenzy like she’s channeling a message from a spirit.
Ha!
Anyhow,
here is the window in a light turquoise.
I’m not sure I like the turquoise in MY house
(although I do love it in others’),
but I wanted to still share the color with you
before I repaint it lavender!

It’s a mixture of Annie Sloan’s “Provence” (a beautiful, rich turquoise),
“Paris Grey”, and a dollop of “Old White.”

I didn’t apply a finishing wax to the window
because in this instance, I preferred the chalky, matte finish
like it had when I found it for a couple of dollars at a yard sale.

I also opened a package of sweet surprises from Donna at D. Reyne’s Everyday Elegance
which happened to include this heavenly zinc chalkboard
so I hung it from a latch on the window, displaying a favorite quote.
Love it!
Thank you so much, Donna.

Tomorrow,
I’ll be sharing the weathered, lavender version of this window.
(Yeah. I have issues.)

Thank you for all of your Chalk Paint questions.
I’ve been working with my stockist, Patty
to get some expert answers to the questions we have
and will be putting together a Q&A video this weekend so keep ‘em coming.

Have you tried chalk paint yet?

  2. Hahaa, we all have issues. I am trying to figure out if I canpaint glass with chalk paint. Do you know?? Also did you enter my giveaway? Must for chalk paint lovers!!!

  3. Very nice. I have a couple of windows and this has just given me inspiration to go ahead and paint them. ♥

  4. You have been busy! Love the color you created for your window! I’m still undecided about how much I really love the chalk paint. The flat chalky finish is really cool and it distresses beautifully, but the coverage is not the best and it does not go on all that smoothly, especially on the second coat. My biggest issue is with the wax. It seems to remain tacky for a long time. Still experimenting.

Congratulations, Jaden! Jami, the painting looks divine. Good luck with the permanent marker. I’ve found rubbing alcohol works well to remove it.

  10. Love the window color and that chalkboard! I have not had the opportunity to try Chalk paint yet. Sadly it is not in the budget yet…soon.

Love what you did with it though looks beautiful.
And congrats on the big step for your little one!
