They made my shabby, vintage heart sing, I tell ya.

The talented, Jenni at {Beautiful Nest}
shared an easy peasy tutorial on how to make

I adore this perfectly imperfect banner
(Read the post. You will giggle from start to finish.)

Love it!

...and
I love cute & functional.

Thank you again for linking up or visiting last week!

Happy New Year!

Top 10 of 2010

This is my first ever end of the year post
and I've noticed a "Top 10 of 2010" theme going on.

So, I'm jumping on this blogwagon,
interrupted by a brief moment of reflection.

2010 has been a truly wonderful journey of...

Creating.

Writing.

Being inspired
(and hopefully inspiring you).

And making some of the sweetest,
most encouraging, and thoughtful friends.

Thank you for your friendships,
loving this little blog,
and motivating me to copy and paste a "k" when needed.
(See yesterday's post for an explanation on that one.)

You are in my thoughts as we embrace 2011
and I'm excited to share another year
with each of you!

Top 10 of 2010
The first 9 are YOUR favorites.
#10 is one of mine.

Maybe someday, I'll top the popularity of this tutorial!

It's a simple way to get organized in 2011.
I use this system every. single. day.

 Currently for sale...I think.

Aw. My very first project.

One of my favorites...

This antique mirror frame
adds the perfect touch to my tiny bedroom.

I love it when the bright morning
sun shines in through the windows
and casts a soft, romantic glow in the room.

When I enter my bedroom
with that glow and this vignette,
I can't help but smile.

That's exactly what our spaces should do.

Make us smile.

Can't wait to love the rest of my house
just as much in 2011
and share it with you along the way.

Happy New Year!

(I'll be back Thursday night with my air your laundry freckled favorites and a linky.)

My Shabby Chic Laptop

Not really.

But it IS white.

And perfect.

It arrived this morning as a gift to our family
from my husband's awesome mother and sisters.

I cannot tell you how HAPPY I am!

My old Gateway laptop was such a trooper
but it acquired some "kinks" along the way
after being dropped a few times, old age, etc.

FOR INSTANCE...

In order to type a "K", I had to copy and paste one.

In order to type an "L", I had to type a "j" first
and go back and delete it.

And,
it was sooooo sloooooow.

My blog productivity will increase 20 fold now.

{sigh of happiness}

I can write blog posts and respond to emails
in lightning speed
because I no longer need to play the
copy/paste/delete game to write a few sentences.

But,
most important of all...

I get to iChat with my Annapolis & Myrtle Beach in-laws
and "watch" my little nieces and nephews grow up.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

If you have any blogging on a Mac tips,
I'd love to hear them!

*Note
They are in no particular order
and my 7-year-old is on Winter break until January 2
but I'll be working on them every spare minute that I can find.

PEACE, LOVE & JOY

From my family to yours,
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. — Isaiah 9:6

Love,
Jami

Christmas came a little early

The title of this post ought to be,
"Ahhhhhhhh!"
but I didn't want to frighten you.

On my way home from finishing
my Christmas shopping,
I saw an "Estate Sale Today..." sign.

I drove by, guilt stricken by the fact
that I should not be shopping for myself
right now.

Then, a light bulb went off.

[Rrrrrring!]

"Honey. Did you get my Chrismtas gift yet?"

"No. I was going to go out tomorrow morning."

"Okay. Love you. Bye."

[Click.]

And I turned around.

Well...

I happened upon the BEST estate sale
of my estate salin' history.

I found a vintage Thomasville
desk with hutch for $40.
I would have haggled but I didn't.

In fact, I initially left without it
but my sweet husband called the lady
(I asked for her number just in case it didn't sell)
and came back with it for me.

Aw.

I already know what I want to do with it.

Have you ever bought a piece of furniture
that made you want to rearrange the entire room around it?

This is it.

Here is the hutch closed but it will remain open in my home so that I can display
some lovelies.

Look at her curves!

Now imagine them all white and distressed.

I immediately fell in love
(as in nearly fainted)
with this $35 wide, antique chair w/a big, fluffy, down-filled cushion.
And you're looking at an un-fluffed cushion.
Fluffed, it touches the bottom of the arms!
{sigh}

 (Yeah. Should say Belgian Linen.)

The style is Pierre Deux French Country.
Thank you, Lena!
I just knew she whispered, "I'm French."

I was also given a slipcovered,
down-filled ottoman
(pictured above).

A new slipcover is in order.

I was also given the matching,
low back, slipcovered chair
but it was too big to bring inside
to photograph
and there was no way I was snapping
a photo in our garage.

It's about one piece of furniture away from a citation of some sort.

The stars aligned
and I happened upon this French-ish book,
"Historical Romances of France. Madame Therese."
with a LAVENDER cover.
I just happen to be accenting with lavender in the living room.

Here's another photo...

 ...and another
along with some beautiful linens that
I bought for 50 cents.

I also found some vintage, Robin's Egg Blue,
linen place mats and napkins (set of 4)
that will be Oxycleaned
and added to my Etsy shop.
I figured one of you girls would love 'em.
Email me if you want them before I post them.
And, as if the day couldn't get any
more wonderful,
I found a huge package in my garage
when [stuffing] the chair inside.

It was a gift from a bloggin' friend
whose unbelievable kindness
deserves a separate post.

Christmas blessings to each of you!

Tomorrow night is our annual tradition of hot cocoa and cookies
while driving around, looking at Christmas lights.

I can't wait.

It really is magical.

What is your favorite tradition?

Some lovelies to share...

I am absolutely overwhelmed
by the kindness and creativity
of other bloggers.

I'd love to show you another project today
but
a) I'd rather show you someone else's and
b) I won't lie. I haven't had a moment to finish one.

Christmas is,
after all,
only...
what...
FIVE days away!
My sweet friend, Erin at Like Grandma's
surprised me last week with a package.

Inside was one of the most precious,
handmade gifts that I've ever received.

Everything about it has me written all over it and she planned it just so.

I just love when that kind of unsolicited thought goes into a gift, don't you?
It's an ornament made from chicken wire
with a recipe for "Glazed Strawberry Pie."

The vintage recipe is dusted with a fine,
white, shimmering glitter
and the plant image on the front
says, "White Strawberries."

Erin said that she thought of me when she saw the image because I had mentioned liking strawberries
and because my hair is red.

I love strawberries a little too much. Check.

And check. I have red hair thus earning several nicknames through out the years involving "strawberry."

And bonus check. I love white.

Fact: My favorite place that I ever called home
was a townhouse on Strawberry Lane.
Bet you can't guess what my address labels had on them.

Isn't it so story book?

I'm am so grateful for her friendship
and I'm touched by the connections that I've
made along this blogging journey.

I am just as grateful for your friendships, too.
You have NO idea what it means every time
I log on and read a sweet, little comment
or see that one more person believes in me enough to follow or subscribe.
I don't live by the magic "follower" number anymore.
It's just nice to see when that number goes up.
(It also goes down. Ha!)
If you're reading,
Thank you SO very much, Erin!

I told her that she should make and sell these little treasures on Etsy.

What do you think?

Another lovely arrived, too.

from one of my darling Vintage Market shoppes,
Emily at Crisp Interiors.

Isn't it gorgeous?
   It's larger than I anticipated
so I'm delightfully using it for a
mitten & scarf catcher.

Well, that's it's intended purpose.
Right now, I only count one mitten INSIDE.

The rattan has a white/gray patina on it
that isn't captured in the photo so well.

Emily also included a little something sweet
that will be part of another
wonderful giveaway soon.

Until then, it's a secret.
:)

Thank you, Emily!

And, thank you to the other creative girls
in the market with their lovelies.

and

I hope the home stretch of the holiday planning is going smoothly for all of you!

I will hopefully be back
with my winter tree BEFORE Christmas.
I'll be back either way though.

Thanks for stopping by!

Oops!

The family Christmas party has passed
and it was so much fun.

You can always judge a good party
by the mess left behind, right?

Thankfully,
I had an extra set (or two) of helping hands
to get my home back in order.

I closed the laptop late Friday night after
posting the Air Your Laundry linky party

OR SO I THOUGHT.

(The linky tool is now working. So sorry!)

I feel so incredibly out of the blog loop
after a brief break and will spend the evening
catching up with you all.

I can't wait!

Thank you for understanding!
