Desk with handpainted quote – White out project #1

In yesterday’s post,
I declared this week a “white out”
at freckled laundry.
I spent yesterday,
priming & painting a few things white
and today I put the finishing touches
on a writing desk (purchased at Target
a couple of years ago).

The sun barely poked through the clouds today
and the photography is a bit lackluster
so I tried to compensate by softening the photo
in Photoshop Elements.

I may reshoot the desk on the next sunny day.

I hand painted a quote on the writing desk top.
“A blank page gives the right to dream.”

It came from one of my favorite full quotes about writing,
“A word is a bud attempting to become a twig. How can one not dream while writing? It is the pen which dreams. The blank page gives the right to dream.” – Gaston Bachelard

I distressed the edges but decided that

I liked them untouched so I repainted it.
Although I free handed the quote,
I will share with you an easier way to transfer quotes in a future post.

Here’s the after one last time.

I {love} it white.
And, it’s decided.
I really need another shot
that shows the entire desk and the quote.
I will announce the giveaway winner tomorrow!
Thank God for because I’m sick over only
being able to choose two of you.
Speaking of “white out”,
picture perfect?

Like all the other girls, I just love the desk white, with the beautiful quote. My problem would be that I might…. get a pile of books etc. on the desk and then I wouldn’t see the quote.

  8. That is super cute and just gorgeous. I think you were right to leave it un-distressed (or is it re-painted, lol!) It goes perfectly with your chair :)
